Rymling is ‘runaway’. It is made from the verb rymma – ‘have room for’, ‘accommodate’, and ‘flee’. Rymma in turn comes from rum – ‘room’, a common Germanic word.
This ewe snuck out from our neighbour’s pasture with three lambs, not all of them her own, and got lost in the woods. We chased them until she got so out of breath that my niece could catch her, and walked them all the way home. She had to stop and rest several times.
